Subscribers receive clear in-app alerts when a transaction is covered. Note: Transaction Protection covers losses that might occur at the point of transaction, but does not protect against losses that occur before or after a transaction.

What is protected?

    Ethereum, Linea, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Base, Polygon, BSC, or Sei

    Swapping tokens on verified apps like Uniswap or 1inch; lending or liquidity interactions on protocols including Aave or Kyberswap

    Minting or selling on trusted marketplaces such as OpenSea or Rarible

    Claiming airdrops from verified smart contracts

What is not protected?

  • Compromised wallets

    Losses caused by leaked or stolen Secret Recovery Phrases, phishing, malware, or poor key storage.

  • Speculative & economic losses

    Transactions that worked as expected, but led to financial loss. For example: trading tokens that dropped in value, low liquidity, or honeypot interactions.

  • Protocol exploits

    Losses resulting from hacked or vulnerable DeFi protocols or smart contracts outside MetaMask’s control.

What is the claim process?

Filing a claim is fast and simple.

Click on the three lines in the top right corner to go to Settings, then click on Transaction Shield.
02. Open a claim

Submit your transaction details in the portal within 21 days of your loss. We'll ask for information about the transaction and wallet.
03. Receive your funds

03. Receive your funds

Once your claim is approved, you'll receive your assets back to the address provided in the claim form. Most claims will be processed within 15 business days.
